While I love the experiences I&#039;ve had at larger wineries and Chateaux, most of the wines I review are smaller local American wineries in my area that I visit all season long. I love the craftsmanship, originality, and dedication they have. Clearly they do it because they love it, and that&#039;s as much the joy in wine as drinking it.  My notes do not resemble my WSET notes at all either. But it helps knowing the systematic approach when you need it.]]></description>

A couple of great gins that you may want to try that are off the radar for many people are:-
Caorunn, distilled &#039;properly&#039; at Balmenach whisky distillery. If you&#039;re going to put in everything from coul blush apple to dandelion and bog myrtle, you&#039;d better be pretty confident that the infusion is going to work!
Jensens, distilled in Southwark (London Bridge area) by a Danish ex-architect who rediscovered the style of great London gin whilst drinking in a bar in Tokyo. This makes the base of a belter of a Martini - just keep everything ice cold (glass/gin/shaker glass) and put a little bit of Noilly Prat (Ambre if you can get it, but Vya has a similar effect) or Aperitivo Cocchi Americano if you want a REALLY dry version into a small spray bottle and just give it a small hint of this prior to serving.

Probably the most singularly important factor that I stick with is that all gin should be bottled at &gt;41.3% ABV, or the botanicals are lost far too quickly as they&#039;re not &#039;fixed&#039; in the production part of the process.

If you want to find out how &#039;bonkers&#039; gin/genevers can actually be, try to get your hands on a aged version such as Twaalf from the Netherlands. Literally a 12yo gin, the character is more like that of a reposado Tequila, but it makes for a really interesting drink....

		<description><![CDATA[Good comments Mike. You are correct, I should have said lighter in color than some of the other varieties ,not light in color.   My intent was to get the readers to try Grenache as something new,  instead their usual Cabernet and Merlot. The post intent was to give  them some very basic information of where and what to look for. In our market Grenache is not very well known at all.  I enjoy personally the white wines from Chateuaneuf, and the Rhone, but there are not many available in our market.  There was just not enough space to cover the other versions of Greanche. I will do a post some time on the white grapes from the Rhone.  Hopefully after trying Grenache or a Grenache blend, the readers will want to explore the other options. and learn about the regions and producers. Thank you for the information and links on the Rhone Valley .For my readers Mike is based in the Rhone Valley and does wine tours in the region. If you are going to the region you should talk to Mike. 		<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Good comments Mike. You are correct, I should have said lighter in color than some of the other varieties ,not light in color.   My intent was to get the readers to try Grenache as something new,  instead their usual Cabernet and Merlot. The post intent was to give  them some very basic information of where and what to look for. In our market Grenache is not very well known at all.  I enjoy personally the white wines from Chateuaneuf, and the Rhone, but there are not many available in our market.  There was just not enough space to cover the other versions of Greanche. I will do a post some time on the white grapes from the Rhone.  Hopefully after trying Grenache or a Grenache blend, the readers will want to explore the other options. and learn about the regions and producers.
